Risk-Need-Responsivity

Presenters: Debra A. Pinals, M.D. & Ayorkor Gaba, Psy.D.
Goals: In Part 1 of this sequential webinar series, attendees will describe criminogenic risk factors and the basic strategies used to address risk and need through treatment planning. Participants will also describe responsivity factors that can be targeted to help clients adhere to treatment. Attendees will learn about positive strategies to utilize in the development of informed and comprehensive treatment planning for co-occurring disorders (CODs). Further, participants will delineate ways in which trauma and mental illness can impact success and engagement in COD treatment planning. In Part 2, attendees will explain the connection between mental illnesses, criminogenic tendencies, and recidivism. Participants will also describe the function of the Risk-Need-Responsivity Treatment Support Planning Tool and its proper use. Attendees will understand the importance of focusing on positive resiliency factors, opportunities, and targeted goals to make treatment planning strength-focused. Finally, participants will learn how to obtain a Risk Assessment score and use it to inform treatment planning.

Introduction to Medication Assisted Treatment for MISSION Staff

Goals: Describe elements of evaluation for medication-assisted treatment (MAT), identify the FDA approved treatments for opioid and alcohol use disorders, and demonstrate understanding of benefits, limitations, & differences between different forms of MAT.
